Tonight i had a fantastic game where me and a fellow mechwarrior decided to go around the back ways on forrest map and capture the base, Not only did we get the win but our entire team got full salvage rights on the other teams working and near perfect machines for me it was about 110K in Cbills and easy EXP.
Lesson learnt tonight Capturing the base is worth the effort and if you have the chance do so...

Note; as long as you don't cap right on the start, it might be worth it.
1/2 min cap with nobody dead results 25k to everyone in-game.

Of course it still has its place. Good way to nab victory from the jaws of defeat, or end a game when the last opponent alive is a ECM Commando hiding in some distant corner of the map etc. etc.
Now that the fast cap is no longer the cash cow it used to be, it makes little sense other than to pad ones W/L ratio...

Yeah salvage works off "dead" mechs and what parts haven't been destroyed. Live mechs yield nothing.
I've had teamates cap a "win" when our team was stomping the enemy in a straight up fight.............it was basically like waving a white flag when you have almost won. Very frustrating.

no matter which way you go your either padding the K/D ratio or the W/L ratio personaly i look for the best solution in the game im in, this particular game was fun as it took a lot of skill of on assault and one heavy (ME) to get ot the base and cap it whilst attacking the enemy without suffering damage. I wont lie this also was a game that made me sweat bullets as well.

It should have a place...
It is still listed first on the victory requirements!

No live mechs give you salvage, even the devs have commented on it

source?
I've played several infuriating matches where we were winning and then a team mate caps and it results in sub 100k winnings where a proper, non-g.a.y.lord win would net over 200k
